Handed over, and refusing to go. Denmark backs Napoleon and loses. The Treaty of Kiel transfers Norway to Sweden. Norwegians decline, meet at Eidsvoll, and adopt a constitution on 17 May — still the national day. A short war ends in a personal union with Sweden on Norwegian terms.
