A trading place at the head of the fjord. Oslo is founded at the mouth of the Alna below the Ekeberg ridge, traditionally by Harald Hardrada — the king who died at Stamford Bridge in 1066 — though the archaeology suggests a settlement a little earlier. The ruins are still there.
